A household-name fast-food organisation was struggling with manual, high-risk pricing updates across hundreds of locations. The challenge

The client relied on a manual pricing process within its PoS systems, requiring multiple teams to update prices across environments, sometimes live.
 

This approach was:

  • Time-consuming: updates often took hours or days

  • High-risk: prone to hundreds of errors with each change

  • Inflexible: pricing could only be managed at broad state or regional levels

  • Non-transparent: no single source of truth for products or price

At the same time, the organisation was rolling out a new global Menu Management platform that needed to become the future system of record, adding both technical and organisational complexity.

The approach

One51 partnered closely with Product, Finance, and Menu Management teams to understand existing workflows, system overlaps, and automation opportunities.

Our approach focused on:

  • Mapping manual pricing processes and failure points

  • Clarifying interactions across PoS, payment gateways, master data tools, menu management, and the enterprise data platform

  • Designing a scalable architecture that could support granular pricing, automation, and auditability

This was not just a technical uplift,  it was a full pricing operating model transformation.

The solution

One51 designed and delivered a new orchestrator platform to automate end-to-end pricing updates across the organisation.

Key elements included:

  • A new pricing tier model, enabling granular control across metro, suburban, and regional locations

  • A file-based upload process for non-technical users, dynamically generated from live master data

  • An integrated QA validation layer, ensuring accuracy before deployment

  • Full integration with the global Menu Management platform as the single source of truth, with automated downstream updates into PoS systems

Under the hood, the platform was built on Azure using scalable cloud services, API integrations, CI/CD pipelines, and real-time reporting to support enterprise performance and governance.

The outcome

By the end of the program, the client had fundamentally transformed how pricing was managed across the business.
